The United Way of Connecticut’s annual ALICE report found that 569,934 households in the state could not live comfortably in 2024, the most recent year for which data was available. The figure combines the 11% of households defined as in poverty, and the additional 28% households that have incomes above the poverty line but cannot afford basic expenses where they live.
