Connecticut United Ways are committed to building a Connecticut where every family has the chance to thrive. That is why we advocate with and for ALICE families – the growing number of Connecticut households who are living paycheck-to-paycheck.

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed. They are individuals who are integral to our communities and economy. We all depend on them.

But no matter how hard they work or how many jobs they hold, their wages are just not enough for them to afford the basic cost of living in Connecticut. They deserve stability, opportunity and a stronger future.

The Campaign for Working Connecticut is a statewide coalition of diverse stakeholders addressing the critical need to strengthen Connecticut’s future talent pipeline.

United Way of Connecticut brings people and organizations together to create real change for ALICE families through advocacy. From working with the 13 local United Ways in Connecticut on our statewide policy agenda, to coordinating the CT Child Tax Credit Coalition and The Campaign for Working Connecticut, we’re advancing proven solutions that work. Through our network of ALICE Advocates, we elevate the voices of hardworking families from every corner of the state who know and face the challenges firsthand and are shaping policies to make life better for everyone.
