Sherri Sutera

Senior Vice President

Sherri Sutera, Senior Vice President, Child Care Services, has more than three decades of experience in the nonprofit sector of early childhood care. Throughout her career, she has advocated for connecting children and families to accessible, affordable, quality child care.

Sherri oversees and manages United Way of Connecticut’s two major state-funded programs: the Care 4 Kids child care subsidy program and 211 Child Care resource and referral service. Her expertise in project development, implementation and management of non-profit social service programs and privatized state contracts empowers her teams to meet or exceed defined objectives and goals concerning eligibility determination, subsidy implementation, child care resource referral, early care workforce professional development, workflow efficiencies, payment processing, digital fingerprint collection and document center management.

Above all, Sherri prioritizes the client experience, working with her teams to develop consumer-friendly child care subsidy processes to better assist Connecticut families and guide early care providers in navigating that system and receiving timely payment. She also collaborates with care providers, planners and other stakeholders to identify gaps in child care availability and assist with capacity building efforts to meet the changing needs of Connecticut households.

Sherri holds a BA in Communications with a marketing concentration from the University of Connecticut. In her spare time, she likes to travel and spend time with friends and family.
