Tanya Barrett

Senior Vice President

Tanya Barrett is a highly accomplished leader with more than 30 years of experience in health and human services, specializing in crisis intervention, emergency/disaster support and call center management. A licensed mental health clinician and seasoned social worker, Tanya has consistently demonstrated her ability to design, develop and implement impactful programs, solve complex problems and lead diverse teams.

As Senior Vice President at United Way of Connecticut’s 211, Tanya oversees a team of more than 160 employees, manages multimillion-dollar contracts and spearheads emergency/disaster response initiatives. She is also a dedicated board member and advisor for Connecticut’s Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development Model (AHEAD) Advisory Committee as well as serves on the Connecticut Behavioral Health Implementation Team Advisory Board.

An advocate for innovative resource allocation during crises, Tanya combines her strategic vision with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with state agencies, funders and stakeholders. She is committed to fostering equitable access to services and supporting community resilience.

Tanya holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Western Connecticut State University, a Master of Science in Counseling specializing in Human Resource Development from the University of Bridgeport and a Sixth-Year Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is pursuing her PsyD at California Southern University, further advancing her expertise in mental health care and organizational leadership.

Tanya lives in West Hartford with her husband Tony, daughter Chelsea (when she is home from college) and little dog Ashley.
