Inspiring Stories: Samantha Rosado

In 2023, Samantha Rosado, 35, saw her life fall apart. In that year, her mother died in February. “I lost everything when she died. My mother was my rock.”

Shortly after, while she was embroiled in a legal battle with her mother’s landlord, the nursing school Samatha attended abruptly closed. That November, her father passed, followed by her grandmother in February 2024.

Samantha hit rock bottom. With no job, no home and no transportation, she had to take a break from her new nursing studies at Port and Chester. Desperate, she called 2-1-1.

“211 helped place me in a shelter, referred me to an outreach program, legal services to help battle my mom’s landlord, a case manager and food pantries.”

Now, Samantha has a job as a server at the new Iron Horse Sports Pub in Bristol, and she is excited to sign a lease on a new apartment. “211 took me out of a bad environment, helped place me in a shelter and found me an outreach program.”

Moving forward, Samantha would like to finish nursing school. “My mom was a nurse,” she says. “And I also love helping people.”

Because of 211, Samantha is on her way. “211 was my steppingstone to get me to where I am now,” she shares. “When I felt hopeless, 211 was there.”
