The 2-1-1 Barometer - Education - The Key to Success

Now more than ever, education is a key factor in individual success and community well being. For individuals, education opens up access to good jobs. For communities, an educated populace can attract and maintain good employers. How is Connecticut faring in terms of educational attainment? This edition of the 2-1-1 Barometer highlights education and the initiatives underway in the state that are focused on educational attainment. The report reviews education statistics, the assistance United Ways provide to those seeking educational resources and educational initiatives currently underway in Connecticut. H1N1 Update

As Connecticut and the rest of the nation deal with a shortage of H1N1 vaccine, Governor M. Jodi Rell has focused on increasing the state's inventory of anti-viral medication. Rell says the state recently received 3,000 bottles of pediatric Tamiflu from the federal government to help hospitals and clinics treat the growing cases of H1N1 influenza among children. United Way 2-1-1 receives an average of over 600 calls per week for information on H1N1. For the latest information on H1N1, dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211ct.org.
