Furnace Replacement Rebate Program

Connecticut is offering a Furnace Replacement Rebate Program that provides rebates of up to $500 to households to replace their existing residential furnace or boiler with a more energy efficient model. The amount of the rebate depends on the household's income. The Furnace Replacement Rebate Program will consider replacements that happened between July 1, 2007 and April 15, 2009 for eligibility. Visit 2-1-1 for more information on this program. Search 2-1-1 for other furnace repair, improvement or replacement programs.

Calls for Food Increasing Statewide

Recent media reports indicate that food pantries and soup kitchens around the state are experiencing an increased demand on their resources. Since the beginning of this year, 2-1-1 has received 20,000 requests for information on food pantries, soup kitchens, holiday meals and food stamps -- a 20% increase over last year's requests during the same period. 39 requests were received from Rocky Hill. Visit 2-1-1 for a complete listing of options for where to find food assistance and where to donate food.

Drunk Driving Awareness

During the coming holiday season, MADD will once again conduct its "Tie One On for Safety Campaign" to boost awareness of drunk driving during this busy travel time. MADD encourages drivers to tie a red ribbon to a visible place on their vehicle during the holidays. According to MADD, nationally, more than 1,000 people die each year between Thanksgiving and New Year's in drunk driving accidents. Visit 2-1-1 for information on alcohol and substance abuse resources.
