Connecticut's New Affordable Health Insurance Plan

On June 30, Connecticut launched the Charter Oak Health Plan. The plan provides affordable health insurance for Connecticut's uninsured adults who are too old for HUSKY but too young for Medicare. There are no income or asset limits to qualify and pre-existing conditions are not a factor in determining eligibility. Visit 2-1-1 for more information.

Time for Sunglasses and a Big Hat!
It's UV Safety Month

It's beautiful outside, but it is the time of year to protect against getting too much sun and against heat related illnesses. July is UV Safety month. The Environmental Protection Agency says the sun's ultraviolet, or UV rays, can damage your skin and eyes. Short-term exposure to UV rays can cause sunburn and tanning. Long-term exposure can cause early wrinkles, skin cancer, cataracts and macular degeneration. To ensure protection, the EPA says wear sunglasses and a broad-rimmed hat.
