Tax Credit Outreach Campaign

It's income tax season and once again United Way of Connecticut is your link to information on tax credits, free income tax assistance and tax forms. UWC is participating in the Tax Credit Outreach Campaign to inform and educate families about their eligibility for federal tax credits. 2-1-1 will provide information on the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. H1N1 Update

The typical peak of flu season is now upon us. This year, there are two strains of flu to be concerned about; H1N1 and the seasonal flu. According to the State Department of Public Health, seasonal flu activity has been low but there have been over 3,000 confirmed cases of H1N1. H1N1 vaccine is now available to anyone who wants it. 2-1-1 Handles Close to Half a Million Requests for Information in 2009


In 2009, 2-1-1, handled over 360,000 calls offering close to half a million service requests, an increase of 8% and 6% respectively over 2008. The website received over 525,000 visits, an increase of 46%. Click here for the top 10 calls statewide.

HUSKY Coverage Reinstated

The Connecticut Department of Social Services has reinstated medical coverage for approximately 4,600 documented non-citizens in Connecticut retroactive to Dec. 1, 2009. For more information click here.
