Spring is a great time to spruce up. Whether it involves cleaning up the yard or cleaning out the attic, remember to use 2-1-1 as a resource. 2-1-1 contains links to information from cities and towns throughout the state on recycling, bulk waste removal, and disposal of household hazardous waste. Need to know how your town handles waste removal? Search the 2-1-1 database!

April 13-19 marked the Week of the Young Child, a national event that celebrates children and raises awareness about their needs. United Way of Connecticut offers many resources that focus on children: 2-1-1 Child Care helps families find quality child care and provides resources to child care providers. The Child Development Infoline provides information about early intervention services, developmental concerns, and more. HUSKY Infoline provides information on the HUSKY program and assists families in obtaining coverage.

This month highlights the growing need for awareness about Autism and gives agencies that are focused on Autism a special opportunity to educate the public. The United Way of Connecticut administers the Birth to Three System web site, which contains links to the recently updated Autism Spectrum Disorders Service Guide #1 and list of Autism-specific programs.
