Employment Resources and Job Fairs
Connecticut's unemployment rate has fallen below 8% for the first time since April, 2009. The decrease reflects both job growth and a decline in the labor force and also has triggered a decrease in the federal Extended Benefit program for the unemployed. Today, when someone loses a job, they will be eligible for up to 73 weeks of benefits, down from a maximum of 99 weeks during the height of the recession. If you need employment resources or other supports,

| Need to Register to Vote? |
If you need information on how to register to vote, United Way 2-1-1 has contact information for all of Connecticut's municipal registrars of voters. Just dial
2-1-1, visit the 2-1-1 eLibrary, or search the 2-1-1 database by entering your town and "voter registration" under Search for Service Keyword. While the field of candidates has diminished, there will still be a presidential primary in Connecticut on April 24. The deadline to register to vote in that primary is April 23rd. Primaries for Congressional, state and some municipal offices will be held on August 14. The deadline to register for the general election is November 5. Those who are 17 but will be 18 by the time of the general election are eligible to register to vote in Connecticut's primaries.
